Electric car maker Tesla Motors will tap into the mainstream car market with a vehicle that could sell in the $40,000 range, and could become crucial to its future growth. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company run by Elon Musk could introduce the new model in 2015 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, though it wouldn’t be up for sale until 2016 or 2017, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Aside from building a lower-priced model that could make Tesla a household brand, increasing vehicle production will be important for Tesla’s future success, according to the article. Building a more affordable vehicle will require the company to find a way to combine battery size, capacity and cost with a 200-mile driving range.

Tesla Motors Inc.’s Model S premium sedan starts at about $71,000, and its Model X sport-utility vehicle will debut in the same price range late next year. Tesla has a showroom in Beaverton.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela

Editor’s note: John Battersby served as a correspondent for The New York Times (1987-89) and the Christian Science Monitor (1989-96) before, during and after South Africa’s transition to democracy. He was editor of The Sunday Independent in Johannesburg from 1996 to 2001. He interviewed Mandela on numerous occasions and is coauthor of “Nelson Mandela: A Life in Photographs” (Sterling, 2009) and author of the afterword in the updated version of “Mandela: the Authorized Biography” (Harper Collins, 2011).

(CNN) — Nelson Mandela was always mindful that his leadership role in the liberation of South Africa from apartheid might not have been possible if he had not been imprisoned. “It is possible that if I had not gone to jail and been able to read and listen to the stories of many people. … I might not have learned these things,” Mandela said of the insights that he gained during his 27 years in jail. In an interview less than a year after he had stepped down as the country’s first black president, Mandela shared with me reflections of how prison changed him. He said that reading the biographies of great leaders who had been able to overcome their shortcomings and rise to do great things had inspired him. He said it also helped him to realize that behind every seemingly ordinary person lay the potential of greatness. “I have been surprised a great deal sometimes when I see somebody who looks less than ordinary, but when you talk to the person and they open their mouths, they are something completely different,” he said. Mandela said that prison gave him time to think about the times when he had failed to acknowledge people who had been kind to him.

Mandela said that at the height of the struggle against apartheid, he and other leaders were understandably angry at the humiliation and loss of dignity of those who suffered under the unjust policy. It meant their actions were driven by anger and emotion rather than by reflection and consultation. “But in jail — especially for those who stayed in single cells — you had enough opportunity to sit down and think,” he said. There was time to listen to the stories of people who were highly educated and who were widely traveled and experienced. “When they told of their experiences, you felt humbled,” he said. Mandela said that he had learned that when you had the moral high ground, it was better to sit down and talk to people and persuade them of the correctness of your cause. “If you have an objective in life, then you want to concentrate on that and not engage in infighting with your enemies,” he said. “You want to create an atmosphere where you can move everybody toward the goal you have set for yourself,” Mandela said.

Nelson Mandela: A man of many handshakes

In his twilight, Mandela was at pains to publish and acknowledge his weaknesses and shortcomings in his family life, in his relationships with women and his first wife, Evelyn. He was keen to dispel any notion of sainthood that might be bestowed on him. He also spoke increasingly about the importance of changing oneself.”One of the most difficult things is not to change society — but to change yourself,” Mandela said in 1999 at a tribute to billionaire businessman Douw Steyn who had made his Johannesburg residence available to Mandela as a retreat after his prison release in 1990. Mandela had given similar advice to wife Winnie in a letter written to her in 1981 after she had been jailed by the apartheid regime. Mandela noted that there were qualities “in each one of us” that form the basis of our spiritual life and that we can change ourselves by observing our reactions to the unfolding of life. Ten years later, Mandela said that it gave him a feeling of fulfillment to see that Douw Steyn had changed and had learned to share his resources with the poor. “It enables me to go to bed with an enriching feeling in my soul and the belief that I am changing myself” by reconciling with former adversaries, Mandela said. I believe that the essence of Mandela’s greatness was to change himself fundamentally during his period in jail and emerge as a potent leader and example for all humanity.

Opinion: Nelson Mandela saved my life

The reflections took me back to the extraordinary day of Mandela’s release. The day the legend became a man. Even now, the moment seems frozen in time. It was February 11, 1990, and the African sun shone from a clear blue sky on a windless summer’s day in Cape Town. About an hour’s drive from the city, the international media thronged around the entrance of a neat prison warder’s house to await the emergence of one of the century’s most iconic figures. I had arrived late at the prison and wandered unnoticed into the prison grounds where my slate-blue cotton suit coincidentally blended in with the uniform color of the South African police. That might have had something to do with the fact that I was not challenged when I strode confidently into the prison grounds. But to this day I do not know. An unscheduled wait of an hour while Mandela consulted an anti-apartheid delegation including his wife Winnie, who had arrived an hour late, seemed like an eternity. When Mandela, flanked by Winnie, finally emerged walking down the driveway towards the prison premise gates, I lost all sense of time and self and strode towards Mandela to shake his hand and congratulate him on his freedom. He recognized me from the photograph that accompanied my regular column I had written for the Cape Times, where I often analyzed the successes and setbacks of the anti-apartheid movement and the African National Congress in exile. His face broke into a broad smile as we shook hands and he continued his historic walk to freedom. At the time, I was the southern Africa correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor which was for many years the only international news publication that Mandela was allowed to read in jail albeit in a vetted form with pages and sections frequently removed. On his first visit to the United States in 1990, Mandela broke from his official program on Sunday, June 24 to pay an unscheduled visit to the headquarters of the Monitor at One Norway Street in Boston to the astonishment of the editor and staff. (Today the Monitor is online only. The newspaper ceased daily publication in 2009.) South Africa since apartheid: Boom or bust? I received an incredulous call from my foreign editor, Jane Lampman, on that Sunday asking me if I could guess who was standing outside the building with two bodyguards asking to see the editor. It was, she said, Nelson Mandela. I was astonished too. Mandela was intrigued that the founder of the newspaper, Mary Baker Eddy, also founded a religion. Mandela came to respect the Monitor’s sustained and fair coverage of South Africa during his time in jail.

To this day, Mandela’s weaknesses, his turbulent youth and his sometimes tempestuous relationships with women can still detract from the iconic status that Mandela achieved in his own lifetime. But, the responsible airing of his weaknesses — including his own acknowledgment — in fact humanized Mandela and focused on his extraordinary strength of character and commitment in overcoming both his weaknesses and adversity in his own lifetime. It augmented Mandela’s greatness.

Carrying on the work of Nelson Mandela

It is Mandela’s achievement as a universal icon that has always fascinated me most. He first conquered his jailers by convincing them that they were the ones imprisoned by their own unsustainable policies based on fear and racial injustice. And then he negotiated them out of power with the sheer force of his moral authority and belief in himself. Mandela’s example and actions in becoming the country’s first black president struck a mortal blow to racism worldwide and helped build confidence and pave the way for Barack Obama to pull off a similar feat in the United States. If Mandela has a global heir in the ongoing campaign against racism and the quest for human dignity it has to be Barack Hussein Obama. The power of Mandela’s leadership was rooted in the fact that at key moments in his life he acted independently of the movement to which he dedicated his life and to which he deferred as a “loyal and obedient” member. He did so when he decided in 1986 to begin negotiating with his jailers from behind bars not knowing where it would end. He did so in continuing to refer to former President F. W. de Klerk as a “man of integrity” long after it was less popular to do so in the ranks of the African National Congress. And he did so again when he went out on a limb within his own constituency after his release to support the overwhelmingly white South African rugby team in the World Cup in 1995. Mandela said that even if he wanted to he could not bind future generations to remember history in a particular way. The lesson of Mandela’s life is that he has no need to bind anyone to his legacy nor does he need any organization to do so. His actions in his own lifetime are his legacy and they will remain indelibly etched in history for generations to come as a living example to inspire the leaders of tomorrow.

Orlando Local Search Engine Optimization | “iPad Mini 2 – Expert Reviews”

#Ipad #Mini

Ipad Mini

You may or may not like Apple products, but you can’t but agree that despite all criticism and negative reviews (especially after Steve Jobs’s death) the iPads, the iPods, the iPhone and Mac computers are selling pretty well. When it comes to the iPad, perhaps the major question that comes out to the surface is: what OS is better – iOS or Android? I guess this is a kind of question you can answer on your own, while I will review the iPad Mini 2 below:

Design: First off, let’s say this – great design, great quality and great materials. As known, Apple products never use cheap plastic, and the iPad Mini isn’t an exception here. When you hold this tablet you are 100% confident you hold a solid gadget with aluminum body that does not look or feel cheap.

Size: As to the size of the tablet, it’s 8 inch. Well, this is less than bulky 10-inch tablets and more than small 7-inch Android devices. It is not too convenient to hold the iPad Mini 2 with one hand, but it’s still possible. It depends on the size of your hand, though. Anyway, the build quality is just superior and Apple never compromises on that.

Screen: The 8-inch screen is gorgeous. This is a Retina screen, so there shouldn’t be any questions about quality. If the original iPad Mini had somewhat poor screen that isn’t as sharp as it is supposed to be, the next generation of this tablet is so much better. 2,048 x 1,536 resolution speaks for itself. This equals to 324 ppi, which is a decent result for a tablet like this. Great screen and fantastic build quality are obvious advantages of the iPad Mini 2.

Performance: As for performance and specs of this tablet, it is not a secret that iOS does not require powerful hardware since it is using a native code that is executed much faster. So, it would not be fair to compare specs with rivals from Android market, although the iPad Mini 2 specs are pretty decent. A7 processor is just enough for this little guy, i.e. it virtually makes it fly. Coupled with 1GB or RAM it makes it a really fast device. Yes, this may be not as impressive as the recent Android monsters, but I can guarantee you this is more than enough. The interface is very responsive and you won’t find an app that will make the system lag. But again, it beats Nexus 7 in speed and performance! Just think about it for a second. The famous Snapdragon 400 loses.

Cameras: Cameras in the iPhones and iPads have always been incredibly efficient. You’ll be pleased with quality of shots and video. Maybe, this is not the biggest strengths for the iPad Mini 2, but the camera is definitely better than on any of Android rivals. Guys from Apple know how to pack a tablet with a quality camera and relevant software.

All in all this is a nice tablet, and definitely a huge leap from the original Mini that did have some significant drawbacks, like a poor screen. Mini 2 will definitely be able to compete in the market with more ‘feature-full’ Android devices. If you need quality and stability, that’s Apple! You can find more details about this device at Tabletoid.com.

Local SEO Services – Orlando | “How Google Updates Will Prompt SEO Strategy Changes”

Source    : itworldcanada.com

Category  : Local SEO Services, Orlando Local SEO

Web site operators will have to recalibrate their search engine optimization strategies as the impact of three recent big updates issued by Google Inc. begin to kick in.  The upgrades include: Google Hummingbird; the encryption of all search data; and the shift to a new Keyword Planner tool. These three changes accentuate the increasing significance of: Optimizing for natural language and mobile search; avoiding emphasis on keywords for SEO; and regularly publishing high-quality content. These changes make it more important for firms to develop a solid content marketing strategy, according to Jayson DeMers, founder of SEO and social media services company AudienceBloom.

Here’s how the updates will impact existing SEO practices:

Hummingbird – Google called its reworked search engine algorithm Hummingbird because the company says its “fast and precise.” According to DeMers the upgrade does a better job at understanding the intent of long-tail search queries (queries that include more than a few words) as well as spoken and natural language search queries (like questions asked by users on their smart phones). For example if a user asked: What’s the closest place to buy an iPhone 5s to my home? a traditional search engine might focus on the words “buy” and “iPhone 5s.” Hummingbird will like understand better the actual location of the users home (if the user shared that with Google) and that “place” means an actual brick-and-mortar store, said Danny Sullivan of online technology publication Search Engine Land. He said Hummingbird goes beyond finding Web pages with matching words.

Google’s SEO dictum of original, high-quality content remains, but this could mean that the Google will be looking for content and Web sites that deliver better mobile experienced, said DeMers. This means companies need to up their mobile content game, he said.

Content is still king, said Adam Stetzer writer for search engine online publication Search Engine Watch, but it is important for Web site to be able to answer specific questions because Hummingbird is good at matching long-tail queries. Search data encryption – Except for clicks on Google AdWords, Google is also now encrypting all search query data. This means that keywords typed in a Google query are protected by SSL encryption even if the user is not signed into their Google account. This move could be to block spying but some SEO experts also believe that Google is now curtailing access to its free data about keywords and encouraging SEO professionals to take out paid AdWords campaign instead. Before the move Google Analytics showed the number of visits each keyword or search phrase received in a site during a certain period of time; percentage of new visits resulting from the keyword phrase; bounce rate and other data.

Local SEO Services – Orlando | “5 Social Media Tips To Boost Your SEO”

Source      : heartifb.com
By              : Deanne Yee
Category   : Local SEO Services, Orlando Local SEO

These days, leveraging social media channels to syndicate content from your blog is an important factor for boosting SEO rankings.  According to a recent study, outlets such as Facebook and Twitter are hugely important for SEO ranking.  Here are five top social media channels you should be using on a regular basis:

1. Google+
Since most people conduct online searches via Google, it only makes sense that the social media channel Google+ should be at the top of your list when thinking through links back to your blog.  Be sure to set up a profile for yourself on Google+, start building your following on the channel and posting links back to blog posts on a regular basis.  Since engagement on the channel also contributes to SEO ranking, be sure to leverage best practices such as posting something with a compelling image to boost engagement and drive up +1s and comments on your Google+ page.

2. Facebook
Another top driver for SEO rankings is Facebook – which has innately high search engine authority.  Set up a Facebook page for your blog, grow your following and be sure to post links to blog posts on the social media channel on a regular basis.  Similar to the way you should be posting on Google+, use a compelling image to drive engagement: likes, shares and comments also contribute to your SEO ranking.

3. Twitter
Twitter is a conversational social media tool, but it should also be leveraged as an RSS feed of sorts for your blog content.  Use compelling copy and a shortened link to your blog post to drive traffic back to your blog.  As long as it is relevant to your audience, you can post about your blog posts more than once in a day, and also link back to older content, which also boosts SEO for your blog.

4. Pinterest
The social media community Pinterest is not only a great way to share on-brand visual content, but also to link back to your blog posts and to boost SEO as a result.  To encourage repins, likes and comments on Pinterest, use the most compelling imagery from your blog post and use popular tags to encourage discovery.

5. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is not only a great way to build your professional network and contacts, but a great way to broadcast blog posts to your professional peers.  Since the social media channel also has great SEO authority, linking out to your blog posts through LinkedIn broadcasts will also build good SEO ranking for your blog.

Orlando Local Search Engine Optimization | “10 Tips For Using YouTube To Kill At Local SEO”

Local Search Engine Optimization

Local Search Engine Optimization

Here’s a local search optimization tactic that is a staple in the repertoire of many professional SEOs: YouTube Optimization. It’s particularly effective in local search since relatively few businesses have created and published video promotions for themselves.  Before launching into the technical tips for optimizing your YouTube videos for local search, it’s worthwhile to mention the content itself. While my tips below will provide benefit somewhat independently of whatever the video is actually about, all benefit derived from the work will be magnified if the video is compelling. So, subject matter and the way it is conveyed are of primary importance. I don’t mention “quality” (although that can contribute) because there are many videos of poor production quality or low resolution that are extremely popular. The subject matter of a video and the way it’s conveyed — its “interestingness” — are more likely to determine whether people will watch it, whether they’ll watch all the way through, and whether they’ll share it with friends.

Some businesses simply make an ad about themselves when they do a video. While these can be informative for prospective customers, they are typically not all that imaginative (and usually not as effective as less overtly promotional videos).  A better approach would be to publish a series of brief videos over time about aspects of your industry, its products, and its services. Provide how-to videos that demonstrate how to do what you do. Obviously, if you sell a service, you won’t make money off of do-it-yourselfers, but these videos are typically more popular and will therefore convey more ranking potential to your business. They can also serve to establish you as an expert — and sometimes, when you show what’s involved in what you do, it will persuade people to pay to have it done.

Other types of videos can teach consumers about how to select the sorts of products you sell, or tell them how to discern qualities about services offered. These “public service” sorts of videos may train consumers in how to be more discerning and, in the process, train them to choose you instead of your competition.  Videos can be simpler to produce than you might imagine these days. Cellphones and digital cameras can shoot your videos, or higher fidelity video cams. You can also create and edit videos using numerous inexpensive software packages. A video I shot just a few years ago of the old Texas Stadium demolition was fairly low resolution compared to the dozens of videos shot with far better equipment by local news organizations, but my optimization work with the video enabled it to rank highest for a while, gaining tens of thousands more views than the videos created by the pros at the news stations! So, quality helps, but don’t get too obsessive with making a perfect video – create and publish your video, rather than get mired in the time and expense of doing something super-slick. And so, without further ado, here are 10 tips for YouTube Optimization for Local SEO.

1. Geotag Your Video
First, you obviously should “geotag” your video in order to associate it with the geo coordinates of your business location. To do this, go into the Advanced settings for the video within the Video Manager. YouTube makes it simple by providing a search field — enter the address location here and click the Search button. The location is then displayed on a little popup map where you may further refine the location by dragging the pinpoint marker. Once saved, YouTube converts your location information into longitude and latitude coordinates for storage.

It’s grown a little unclear as to how Google uses this information at this point. In the not-too-distant past, these videos could be accessed via a layer in Google Maps, and YouTube offered an advanced option for searching for videos within an area. Both of these options are gone, but the data is still there in the background and may continue to impact whether a particular video is deemed to be more relevant for searchers according to geographic proximity. (The YouTube Trends Map displays the most popular videos on a map, but that seems to be based on the locations of the people viewing the videos.)  Contextually, other things associated with the video might also be considered more relevant for its location area as well. Google may bring this data back to the surface once more, so long as the Video Manager interface continues to collect this data from end users.

2. Link To Your Business In The Description
Include a link to your business website at the beginning of the video description. Now, these links are automatically “nofollowed” by YouTube, but there seems to be ranking value of some sort conveyed from the videos to the business’s local search ranking ability. Perhaps Google transfers keyword associations with the link, while no PageRank is transmitted — or perhaps local citation value is being conveyed, since there is no way of “nofollowing” citations.

3. Include Your NAP (Name, Address, Phone), Part I
Include your business name, address and phone number in the frames near the end of the video (and perhaps your website URL as well). Text within videos can be “read” out of the data by Google’s interpretation algorithms, based on the application of optical character recognition.

4. Include Your NAP, Part II
Actually stating your business name, address and phone in the video’s audio will be worthwhile, since this may be automatically converted into the text transcripts produced by Google’s systems.

5. Utilize The Description Field
Mention your address, city location and phone number in the description text. The description field in YouTube is actually very generous, so while your initial paragraph or sentences should clearly describe what the video is about, you could also include a section after that which provides a short biography about your company (and differentiators that might persuade consumers to choose you above your competition).

6. Tag Your Video
Include your business category name and your location names as tags on the video. The keyword tags have long been one of the “secret weapons” for YouTube optimization, so add in a handful of relevant tags for each video. Tags can be multi-word phrases as well as single word terms.

7. Associate The Video With Your Google Places Listing
You will need to add the video to your business listing in Google Places.

8. Associate The Video With Your Google+ Local Page
Add the video to your Google+ Local page. Once you’ve added the video there, you and your employees can share the video on your personal Google+ streams. The numbers of shares are and indicator of popularity.

9. Embed Your Video
Embed the video in your website page and/or on your blog. The number of embeds is another factor that indicates the popularity of videos.  A frequently recurring question in video optimization is whether you should host videos natively (on your website) or store them on YouTube. I have come to believe that housing the videos on YouTube is the more beneficial option. The embed code can allow your video to be displayed elsewhere, and I think having the ranking factors and integration of YouTube as a top Google property provides too many benefits to ignore.

10. Promote Your Video
Further promote the video via your social media accounts, particularly on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Google+. If you provide the video through all the various channels where you’re promoting your business, potential customers can run across it and view it.  All the various views add up to help your video in rankings. All the popularity measures may not only help the video itself to rank, but the citational value conveyed to your business may help with rankings in local search results as well.  Bonus Tip: if you’ve got more than one video, it’s worthwhile to optimize your YouTube channel with a description, link to your website, and links to a few of your main social media profiles.

Google likes videos because people like videos. This has given videos fairly good influence in search. Using these tips to optimize your video content may provide you with a very strong tool for augmenting your local search rankings!

Local SEO Search FL | “LinkedIn Denies Harvesting User Email Accounts Without Permission”

LinkedIn denied over the weekend charges that the company breaks into the email accounts of its members without permission to harvest contacts’ addresses. A class action complaint by four users has charged the professional networking site with hacking into their external email accounts and downloading addresses of their contacts for monetary gain by repeatedly promoting its services to these contacts.

Paul Perkins, Pennie Sempell, Ann Brandwein, and Erin Eggers charged LinkedIn with breaking into “its users’ third party email accounts, downloading email addresses that appear in the account, and then sending out multiple reminder emails ostensibly on behalf of the user advertising LinkedIn to non-members.” The so-called hacking of the user’s email account and download of addresses is done without “clearly notifying the user or obtaining his or her consent,” which is likely to emerge as the crux of the case.

LinkedIn does not access a user’s email account without the user’s permission, and claims that it hacks or breaks into members’ accounts are false, Blake Lawit, senior director of litigation at LinkedIn wrote in a blog post on Saturday. LinkedIn never deceives by “pretending to be you” in order to access the user’s email account, Lawit wrote. “We never send messages or invitations to join LinkedIn on your behalf to anyone unless you have given us permission to do so,” he added.

New users signing in to LinkedIn are asked for the external email address as their user name, though they aren’t told what it will be used for, according to the complaint filed last week in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. If a LinkedIn user leaves an external email account open, LinkedIn is said to pretend to be that user and downloads the email addresses in that account to LinkedIn servers, according to the complaint. Linkedln is able to download the addresses without requesting the password for the external email accounts or obtaining users’ consent, according to the complaint.

If the LinkedIn user has logged out from his email applications, the network requests the user name and password of an external email account to ostensibly verify the identity of the user, and then, without notice or consent, attempts to access the user’s external email account to download email addresses, according to the complaint. Linkedln does not inform its users that email addresses harvested from a user’s external email account will be sent multiple emails inviting the recipient to join Linkedln with the user’s endorsement, the complaint said. Users have complained to Linkedln about its “unethical harvesting” of email addresses and repeated spamming of those addresses, according to the complaint, which asks the court for damages and an order prohibiting LinkedIn from continuing its “wrongful and unlawful acts.”

Best Orlando SEO Company | “Google (GOOG) Announces Calico: 5 Things You Need To Know About The New Healthcare Venture”

Source      : IBT Media Inc
By               : Thomas Halleck
Category  : Best Orlando SEO Company, Orlando Local Search Engine Optimization

Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) is getting into the growing healthcare business. CEO Larry Page announced on Wednesday that Google has formed Calico, a new startup that will work toward improvements in human health and well-being.

In an official press release, Google says that Calico will focus on “aging and associated diseases.” The search giant is now a major provider of smartphones and tablets (Android), online video (YouTube), internet browsers (Chrome), and will now attempt to extend human life through advances in healthcare.  It seems different from Google’s Internet ventures, but compared to other “moonshots” like Project Loon and the self-driving car, Calico is in some ways a little more down-to-earth. Google cannot serve ads to dead people, after all. Page himself told Time Magazine that while healthcare is far removed from the search giant’s core business, the vision is in line with Google’s original vision of “tremendous potential for technology … to improve people’s lives.”
Here are the five things you need to know about Calico:

1) Google is not looking to cure cancer
At least, not at first. Page told Time that he was amazed to learn that the increase in worldwide life expectancy resulting from a cure for cancer would only be three years. So, instead of looking for a cure for cancer, Page says that Calico will focus on ways to tackle issues such as “decreased mobility and mental agility that comes with age, to life-threatening diseases that exact a terrible physical and emotional toll on individuals and families.”

2) Google is expected to use its data-processing prowess to solve health issues
Page said that Google has realized over the years that the more resources it has in the most number of industries, the easier it is for the company to “do more things, get more things solved.” That means that the company will likely utilize its powerful data centers to help Calico researchers utilize data, research illnesses and solve problems.

3) Calico will be led by Apple Chairman Arthur Levinson
Arthur Levinson will act as chief executive and investor in Calico, and is currently the CEO of healthcare firm Genentech, a position he is expected to retain. Levinson is also chairman of the board at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), replacing founder Steve Jobs after his death in 2011. Levinson was also formerly on the board at Google.  Levinson began his career as a molecular biologist and is also an inventor who holds more than 11 U.S. patents.

4) Calico is going to start small
Google has not announced the numbers yet — how much it will put into Calico and how many people, but Time reported that sources say Calico is starting with a small number of employees. The small staff will initially focus on “researching new technology.”

5) Calico may take a decade or more to produce results
“In some industries, it takes ten or 20 years to go from an idea to something being real,” Page said. “Healthcare is certainly one of those areas … Maybe we should shoot for the things that are really, really important so ten or 20 years from now we have those things done.”

Orlando Local SEO | “Mercedes Developing Google Glass Integration”

Source    : hollywoodreporter.com
By        : Michael Walker
Category  : Orlando Local SEO, Local SEO Search

The collaboration is a part of a drive to integrate personal electronic devices with a vehicle’s infotainment systems. Mercedes-Benz is packing its newest models to the rocker panels with cutting-edge technologies derived from the military, Silicon Valley and even Hollywood — the 2014 S-Class combines onboard stereoscopic optical cameras, radars and networked sensors that anticipate collisions, keep the car in its lane and take over from the driver in emergencies. (The International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society will name the 2014 S-Class car of the year at its annual awards ceremony Sept. 18 at Paramount Studios.)

Now, the Stuttgart automaker’s North American research and development center in Palo Alto is collaborating with Google to integrate Google Glass with Mercedes’ in-car navigation systems, Wired reports. Google Glass is the controversial computer worn like a pair of glasses; images appear on a semi-transparent display built into the frame. It can surf the web, send and receive texts, and take photos or videos through an integrated camera. The device’s photo and video capabilities have raised privacy and piracy concerns and calls for preemptive bans in casinos, bars and movie theaters.

The Google Glass-Mercedes integration allows an address entered into Google Glass to interface with the car’s GPS navigation system to provide directions while driving. When the car is parked and the driver exits, the directions continue on Google Glass and guide the wearer the rest of the way on foot.

The concept aims to create seamless, door-to-door directions without manually inputting addresses on several devices. Wired road tested a prototype of the system and reported that it worked as advertised. An app already available for Tesla owners allows Google Glass — for now in the hands of 2,000 hand-picked early adopters — to check the all-electric sedan’s charging status, lock and unlock doors, and find it on a map.

Such tight integration between automobiles and smartphones and devices like Google Glass will become more prevalent as consumers increasingly select cars based on their ability to interface with personal electronic devices, says Mark Wakefield, director of automotive practice with AlixPartners, a global consulting firm. “Making it easier to connect the in-car life with the out-of-car life — anything that makes that more seamless is a huge deal,” Wakefield says. One of the top priorities for automakers today, he says, “is to make as many of those features we’re used to seeing on a mobile device exist in a car. People are actually buying cars based on these capabilities.” Google Glass is expected to go on sale in 2014.

Orlando Search Engine Optimization

The subject matter of a video and the way it’s conveyed — its “interesting” — are more likely to determine whether people will watch it, whether they’ll watch all the way through, and whether they’ll share it with friends.

YouTube Local SEO

First, you obviously should “geotag” your video in order to associate it with the geocoordinates of your business location.

Text transcripts are now automatically generated on YouTube, if the video contains recognizable speech.

You will need to add the video to your business listing in Google Places, Adding YouTube in Google Places, When adding the YouTube URL in Google Places, be sure to use the full page URL and *not* the shortened YouTube URL provided for sharing — the shortened URL will not work in Google Places for unfathomable reasons.

8. Associate The Video With Your Google+ Local Page

Add the video to your Google+ Local page. Once you’ve added the video there, you and your employees can share the video on your personal Google+ streams. The numbers of shares are and indicator of popularity.  Adding videos on your Google+ Local page
